Rocky Knoll Health Care Center began in August 1926 as a facility to care for Sheboygan County residents diagnosed with tuberculosis. By the 1950’s, advances in medical treatments eliminated the need to have a facility dedicated to that type of care so Rocky Knoll began focusing on caring for seniors. Soon after the passage of Medicare/Medicaid legislation in 1965, we began to provide services to Medicare-eligible guests. There have been three significant additions to our facility: in 1972 the two story west building was constructed, in 1992 the north building, and, in 2002 Woodland which is now dedicated to short term rehab.
Today we are licensed to serve up to 149 residents. And, while the emphasis of people in our care has changed over time, our foundation has and always will be “innovation with compassion.” As health care continues to evolve, we will lead the way in new areas of service and care.
