The Support Services Division consists of eight different entities, each having their own job responsibilities.  Those are Emergency Management, Communications Center, Support Staff, Accounting/Bookkeeping, Fleet Maintenance, Radio System/Communication Technician and Sergeant of Administration. Each entity is supervised by the Captain of Support Services. The Captain of Support Services also serves as one of two System Administrators for the department's Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management System(CAD/RMS).

The Communications Center is located in the Law Enforcement Center and consists of one Communications Manager and twelve full-time Telecommunicators (dispatchers).  The Communications Center provides 24-hour dispatching services for six law enforcement agencies, 24 fire departments, four Emergency Medical Service (EMS) units and eleven First Responder units.  Telecommunicators answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service, dispatch appropriate resources, are an information resource for the public and officers, assist with maintaining accurate data in the software system, and maintain accurate warrant files, including entry, confirmation, validation and cancellation of those warrants.

Telecommunicators must be skilled in the use of computer-aided dispatch (CAD) equipment, mapping software, E911, radio communications and a wide variety of computer, software and internet programs.  Telecommunicators are often the first point of contact with the public and, therefore, must have extensive knowledge about a wide array of subjects in order to effectively provide answers and information.

The Support staff is comprised of one Administrative Assistant, two Secretary I’s and five Secretary II’s located at both the Detention Center and Law Enforcement Center. The staff is responsible for transcription, data entry, reception duties, quality and control of the Records Management System, maintaining personnel files and assisting the Administrative Staff as necessary. The staff is cross trained for optimal efficiency of all clerical duties within the Sheriff’s Department. The Support staff is supervised by the Support Services Administrator.

The Support Services Administrator is also responsible for maintaining/ordering office equipment, is one of two System Administrators for the department's Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management System (CAD/RMS) and oversees the efficiency of the Records Management System.

Accounting/Bookkeeping consists of two Account Clerks II's and one Accountant at the Law Enforcement Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing accounts payable, billing/receipting/collections for services provided, maintaining inmate financial records, time and leave entry element of the payroll process and assisting Administrative staff as necessary. The Account Clerk II's are supervised by the Accountant. The Accountant also develops and maintains the Sheriff's Department annual budget and insures accounting functions are performed according to County policies.

Fleet Maintenance consists of one Head Mechanic and one Assistant Mechanic. They have the responsibility to maintain approximately 50 vehicles consisting of marked patrol vehicles, unmarked detective vehicles, civil process vehicles, training vehicles, swat vehicles, and vehicles from other county departments. The Assistant Mechanic is supervised by the Head Mechanic.

Our Radio/Communication Technician maintains our countywide radio system which includes working at the individual tower sites, repairing and maintaining the radio infrastructure as well as subscriber equipment (portables, mobile radios). He also helps to maintain the equipment in the Communications Center in addition to working with the City of Sheboygan Communications Technician to insure around the clock coverage in case someone is needed to respond for any type of radio system or equipment failure.

The Sergeant of Administration is responsible for coordinating the department's overall training program, processing of open records requests, which includes creating voice or video recordings, overseeing the Volunteers In Policing (VIPS) Program, assisting with all hiring processes, and helping to coordinate community policing projects.
