ANNOUNCEMENTS

New changes to the WI Lodging Code ATCP 72 have gone into effect as of January 25,  2026. All operators should have received an email with these updates. A summary of the changes to ATCP 72 can be found Sheboygan County Changes to ATCP72 Fact Sheet and DATCP Changes to ATCP72 Fact Sheet

During the first year of this code change our inspectors will focus on training, education, and awareness of the new requirements. Basic compliance is still expected, but we will prioritize helping all of our operators understand and implement the new code changes.

What is a Hotel/Motel?

A "Hotel" is a place where sleeping accommodations are offered for pay to transients, in 5 or more rooms, and all related rooms, buildings and areas.

A "Motel" is a hotel that furnishes on premise parking for motor vehicles of guests as part of the room charge, without extra cost, and that is identified as a "motel" rather than a “hotel" at the request of the operator.

All fees related to hotel and motel licensing are identical.
