What is Environmental Health?
Environmental health is the branch of public health that works with all aspects of the natural and built environment affecting human health. See the areas we work in below for more information.
Inspection Program
Sheboygan County is an agent of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). The Environmental Health Unit licenses and inspects restaurants, retail food establishments, lodging establishments, campgrounds, public swimming pools and water attractions, mobile food units, and recreational and education camps.
As an agent of the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services (DSPS) the Environmental Health Unit licenses and inspects body art facilities.

Water
As an agent of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Environmental Health Program inspects water wells and samples drinking water for establishments that provide this resource to the public. Establishments we inspect and sample include food establishments, convenience stores, bars, parks, and other public facilities.
