Tuberculosis, or TB, is a disease caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria can attack any part of the body, but usually attack the lungs. People who are infected with TB do not always feel sick.

The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health works to identify, treat and prevent the spread of tuberculosis disease in Sheboygan County and control its threat to public health. The program works to ensure the identification and treatment of all persons with active tuberculosis disease as well as to identify persons with TB infection and ensure they receive preventive treatment.
