About Student Placements

The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health (SCDPH) provides the opportunity to participate in public health practice through structured learning and engagement experiences in one of our programs.

As a student placed at SCDPH, you will have the opportunity to:

• Apply your academic training to tackle real-world public health issues;
• Better understand the role of a local health department in protecting the public’s health;
• Gain meaningful public health skills and workforce experience, or explore potential careers in public health;
• Connect with the community to provide services and promote health; and
• Establish critical public health networking connections with SCDPH staff and community partners 

At this time SCDPH is not able to offer paid academic placement positions. We do accept one Wisconsin AHEC (Area Health Education Center) Community Health Internship Program (CHIP) intern each year. Learn more about AHEC and CHIP at ahec.wisc.edu/chip.

Please note that a current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) must be on file between SCDPH and an educational institution before a placement can be accepted.
