Purpose Statement
The Circuit Court serves as the trial court for Sheboygan County. The Court is responsible for the fair, impartial, and timely resolution of cases brought before it, in accordance with the law.
The Court ensures that all individuals are treated with dignity and respect, while maintaining orderly and efficient court proceedings. Through the consistent application of legal standards and procedures, the Court fosters public confidence in the judicial system and ensures access to justice for all parties.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Circuit Court Department is supervised by the Circuit Court Judges, and includes the Register in Probate, the Deputy Register in Probate, Court Commissioners, the Paralegal Aide for the Court Commissioners, and Judicial Assistants.
The Circuit Court hears and decides matters across a broad range of case types, including criminal, civil, family, juvenile, probate, and traffic cases.
In carrying out its role, the Court:

Conducts hearings, trials, and other proceedings in accordance with Wisconsin law

Issues orders and judgments based on the facts presented and applicable legal standards

Establishes and manages case schedules to ensure the timely progression of cases

Ensures that all parties have the opportunity to be heard

Maintains courtroom order, decorum, and adherence to procedural rules

Works in coordination with the Clerk of Circuit Court, Court Commissioners, and other justice system partners
