Courthouse Secured Entrance Info
On Monday, November 26th, the Sheboygan County Courthouse’s secured entrance and new circle drive officially opened. The Courthouse will now be using a single entrance/exit with security personnel, an x-ray machine and metal detectors. Additional signage has been added inside and outside of the Courthouse as well. Beginning on November 26th, the annex entrance will be closed requiring everyone to use the front entrance. Parking will remain available in the east lot and on the street. In addition to the security enhancements, the front steps were replaced, a ramp installed, and the entrance is now handicap accessible with handicap parking available in the circle drive.
“The most important responsibility we have is to provide a safe work environment for our employees and visiting public,” said County Board Chairman Tom Wegner. “A lot goes on in the County Courthouse, and emotions can run high,” Chairman Wegner added. The Courthouse security enhancements are the culmination of the work of a Courthouse Security ad hoc Committee appointed by the County Administrator and comprised of over 20 participants. “I appreciate the input of our employees and support of the County Board,” County Administrator Payne said. “This was a significant investment and will make the building more safe and secure.”
